Ludhiana:A doctor of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) died under mysterious circumstances in a house at Issa Nagar on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Chakravati (53), a resident of Issa Nagar. He was Senior Doctor in Radiology Department of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Sources told that the deceased doctor has committed suicide but the family members maintained that the victim has suffered heart attack following which he died. The deceased was reportedly in depression from last few years.
Maria, wife of the deceased told the police that at 6 am her husband said that he was going to the hospital. After sometime, the victim was found lying on the floor in the room and cable wire was tied along the neck. The victim was rushed to CMCH where he was declared brought dead.
On being informed, Police Division No.2 reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case. The body was kept at mortuary and the postmortem would be conducted after the relatives of the deceased will arrive in the city. Investigation Officer (IO) said that the cause of death would be revealed once the postmortem report is received and the proceedings would be initiated accordingly.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim has strangulated self with a cable wire but the family members claimed that the heart attack was cause of death.
