Patiala: On the call of the Co-operative Bank Employees Federation of Punjab on Friday the Patiala Central Cooperative Bank Employees Union organised a massive Protest here against the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s Circular in which the Cooperative banks were barred from exchanging the currency of Rs. 500 and Rs 1,000.
While addressing the Protest, the Protestors strongly condemned the controversial circular issued by the RBI. And also demanded it’s immediate withdrawal. The protestors also threatened to intensify this agitation in case the union government fails to take corrective steps in this direction.
The Protest was addressed by Ravinderjit Singh along with Amritpal Singh, Satish Kumar, Dyan Singh, Karamjit Singh Kauli, Jarnail Singh and Jaspal Singh.
The speakers lashing against this decision of the RBI further said that like other banks the co-operative banks has started their functioning after getting the license.
Protestors also said that, at one side all the banks were allowed to exchange the notes but only the cooperative banks were barred to do so, which seemed looks illogical.
Further added that through such orders the Union government is trying to ruin the concept of the cooperative movement and will fight against such illogical circular and agitate to get the justice over it. Later a memorandum over it was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner to forward it to the Prime Minister.
