Ludhiana: Taking a serious note of involving students in political survey, the Congress party has demanded to remove the Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). A delegation of Congress has submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner in the name of Governor on Monday.
The DCC has given one week ultimatum to remove Vice Chancellor from the prestigious post otherwise the Congress will launch massive agitation.
The Congress leaders led by DCC(U) president Gurpreet Bassi Gogi submitted memorandum to Deputy Commissioner. MLA Surinder Dawar, senior Congress leader Jagpal Singh Khangura, Kulwant Singh Sidhu and District Youth Congress president Rajiv Raja were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Gogi alleged that the PAU authorities have forced the students to conduct political survey on the behest of ruling party. The university is playing with the future of students and helping the SAD- BJP alliance government.
The Congress party will not allowed the university authorities for such activities and continue the struggle for the removal of Vice Chancellor Baldev Singh Dhillon, said Gogi.
He further said that they will also meet Governor who is the chancellor of the university and demand removal of VC. If their demands will not meet the Congress will launch massive agitation.
Gogi further alleged that the University has also designated land of research department for the helipad which is used by Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
During the protest heavy police force was deployed at Mini Secretariat.
