Ludhiana: Contractual employees of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) on Tuesday again started protest against the varsity authorities for not fulfilling their demands.
The employees raised slogans against the varsity and vice chancellor demanding that the promises that were made to them last month should be fulfilled. Contractual workers had ended strike on August 31 after the varsity promised that their demands would be fulfilled.
Member of contractual and daily paid labour (DPL) Association of the varsity stated that the varsity has not come good on fulfilling the demands of regularisation, EPF and ESI. He said that the two members of the association who were transferred by the varsity were also not brought back to Ludhiana.
“The two members, including chairman and general secretary of the association have been terminated by GADVASU. This is injustice to us and we will continue our protest till our demands are met with”, said Gurdeep Singh, secretary of the association.
Gurdeep said that a hunger strike would also be started in coming days to pressurise the varsity authorities who failed to meet the demands of contractual workers.
