Ludhiana:Punjab and Haryana High Court has exempted Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori from personal appearance in view of his responsibilities and hectic schedules from further hearing after he marked his attendance in today’s court hearing. The court has given the orders to commissioner to serve notice to all hospitals without parking in the city.
Municipal Commissioner told ‘Daily Post’ that they would be issuing the notices to the hospitals immediately to arrange parking otherwise action would be taken against them.
In the last hearing, court had asked the Municipal Commissioner to attend the court hearing in person with proper hospital parking issue details and action taken against them. He was also asked to submit the reason for not attending last hearing also in the court about which he informed in the written that he was busy in the Smart City training.
The main issue of the hospital parking is that Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana failed to take action against the hospitals that are violating the Act. Around 11 hospitals in the city have not parking space following a complaint was filed by city resident. In August 2014, the Punjab and Haryana high court had ordered the Municipal Corporation to follow the directions issued by Local Bodies’ Department Director in case of violation of building bylaws by the city hospitals. A city-based resident, Rohit Sabharwal, had moved the High Court as many city hospitals had been violating building bylaws and not making parking arrangement. He had claimed vehicles were parked outside hospitals, which caused inconvenience to commuters. He claimed that some hospitals were running laboratories or other centres in basement, which was otherwise reserved for the parking.
