Jalandhar: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that the culprits involved in the killing of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) state co-incharge Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja (retd) would not be spared.
The Union Minister also said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was conducting a probe in the killing of the RSS Punjab leader and culprits would be brought to book at any cost.
Paying tributes to the slain RSS leader Brig Gagneja along with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Union Home Minister said that on the recommendation of Punjab government, the Home Ministry directed the CBI to expedite the investigation and nail down the culprits, who were trying to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the state.
“After Brig Gagneja was attacked, I spoke to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM about the incident. They informed me about the investigation being done by the Punjab Police. Later, on the recommendation of Punjab government, the case was handed over to the CBI,” he said.
The Union Home Minister also expressed satisfaction on the inputs provided by the Punjab government in the case. He also assured the bereaved family for every possible help in the hour of crisis.
Earlier paying tributes to the departed soul, the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal called upon the people to give a strong reply to anti-national and anti-Punjab forces who were trying to disturb the hard-earned peace and harmony.
Terming Brig Jagdish Gagneja as a true patriot, Badal said that he was votary of communal harmony who served the nation in various capacities.
The Deputy CM said that unity and brotherhood were the main pillars of strength in Punjab to defeat the anti social elements. Sukhbir also mentioned that the SAD-BJP alliance was also the ambassador of brotherhood in the state.
Later, Union Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister held separate meeting with the bereaved family members including Brig Gagneja’s wife Sudesh Gagneja, his son Colonel Rahul Gagneja and two daughters Sheetal and Komal.
