Ludhiana: The number of incidents of trespassing has increased at Ludhiana Railway Station, despite regular action taken by the Feroezpur Division Railway
Authorities through the commandants of different railway stations in the city. The authorities claimed that they are charging a fine of Rs 1,000 each from anyone caught of trespassing. Despite this fact, statistics provided by the railway authorities’ show that number of trespassers is increasing day by day.
The authorities say that people are so impatient that they don’t use the right way to reach other platforms and prefer to risk their lives by trespassing the railway track at the local station.
This is evident of the fact that strict action by the authorities has failed to deter the trespassers. Passengers continue to get down from the trains and cross railway tracks illegally. Other than railway passengers including senior citizens, vegetable growers and milkmen who supply milk in the city etc, are also violating the rules.
The passengers are reluctant to use the foot over bridge as they have to walk long over it. In the last one year, hundreds of passengers were fined at Ludhiana Railway Station.
Railway Protection Force, Commandant Vinod Kumar said that they try their best to maintain the law and order inside the Ludhiana Railway Station premises.
He further said that in comparison to previous year’s law and order, condition is now little better at Ludhiana Railway Station but still passengers float the rules to disturb the law and order at the station. The public should also support railways to keep maintain law and order with cleanliness at railway stations and inside the trains.
“Only with the collective efforts we can change the things fully for the betterment of the passengers”, added RPF Commandant at the Ludhiana Railway Station.
