Ludhiana: Despite the relief of enhancement in currency withdrawal from government, the common people were still unhappy with the decision of ban of currency notes of one thousand and five hundred.
On Monday, the banks were closed on the occasion of Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev and the ATM machines were running out of order due to shortage of cash.
Due to working day on Tuesday, the people claimed that they don’t have enough time to stand in the long queues of banks to withdraw money and the exchange the currency notes.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government has enhanced the limit of withdrawal and also given the opportunity to exchange currency notes of Rs. 4500 at one time. The limit of withdrawal from ATM was also enhanced from ATM to Rs 2500 to Rs 2,000. The banks, medical shops, hospitals were also directed to accept the currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 till November 24 .
Advocate Harpreet Sachhar said that BJP government has taken this step because they have taken the votes of innocent people on the pretext of depositing 15 lakh rupees in each citizens account but instead of passing near a half time of its tenure they have failed on the issue and now the people of India are waiting for the money and questioning the government, so, the government has taken this step in order to divert the attention of the people of India in a haste and without any preparation.
Gagndeep Singh, a city based businessman said that from last three days no customer turned at his shop and the old payments were also stopped. The people don’t have time to stand in the ques of banks by leaving their jobs and business. The government should have made proper arrangements before forcing them to accept the decision on currency notes.
