Ludhiana: The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Buland wrote a letter to Municipal Corporation Ludhiana to close the garbage dump on transport cut six months ago, which was becoming a death trap for the passer byes in the month of August, but till date nothing has been done in this regard. Despite the fact MCL, Commissioner agreed to shift dump, but nobody knows why the dump has not been shifted properly from spot.
This garbage dump is becoming a reason for many accidents at Transport Nagar cut from long time. The road from Cheema Chowk to Samrala Chowk is the busiest road of the city including the commute of buses and trucks. Due to the passing of heavy number of vehicles day and night on this road, dump gets scattered to half of road, which makes movement of traffic difficult and horrible as well. Number of passer byes on two wheelers slips from the vehicle and meet with accidents very frequently.
Due to the scattered dump stray cattle’s also keep moving around the place that sometimes suddenly comes in front of vehicles and becomes the cause of accidents on the road. Watching inconvenience to the city residents on the route, ACP (Traffic) has requested MC authorities to close and shift this dump from Transport Nagar cut for public welfare.
Moreover in the letter, he has alleged that area of dump is very small as mentioned in the papers. “Due to its less width also the dump falls on the road only. It’s the need of the hour to shift the dump from this place otherwise more tragedies would keep taking place “, told ACP (Traffic). He informed that now he would send a reminder letter to Municipal Corporation authorities to shift the dump.
