Jalandhar: Two people were killed and four others were injured as Punjab Roadways bus rammed into a truck at Rama Mandi here on Wednesday.
According to information, the truck (tipper) which had arrived here from Pathankot on Tuesday night had its axle broken following which driver Ajay Kumar left it parked in the middle of the road. The bus, on its way from Jammu to Jalandhar, rammed into it at around 8 am, killing the two on the spot.
Rama Mandi SHO Naresh Kumar said the collision was so severe that Ram Singh, the bus driver, died on the spot and Balwinder Singh, a conductor travelling on the bus, was also killed.
Four people, including 14-year-old Jaskeerat Kaur, were injured. The other injured are Gurminder Singh from Chander village in Bhogpur, Joginder Singh from Dalam village near Batala and Avtaar Singh from Bhogpur. They were admitted to a private hospital at Rama Mandi.
The police have registered a case of carelessness against truck driver Ajay Kumar.
