Ludhiana: Around 67,000 challan defaulters were sent final notices by District Transport Officer (DTO) to pay their fines as soon as possible, otherwise, hefty fines would be imposed to the violators.
According to the officials, the DTO Office is now going to take strict action on the violators as with the passing of new rule, violators will have to face trials legally if they would not pay the fines.
Dalwinderjit Singh, DTO, Ludhiana said, “We have sent final notices to the violators and now the whole system would get transparent as earlier people used to take out duplicate copies of registration certificate of vehicle when their RC gets confiscated due to issuance of challan. Now, this would not happen as violators have to face tough time.”
Rahul Verma, Road Safety Expert said, “This new system would streamline the things as violators have to pay the challans as earlier violators do not bother to pay the challan though large number of vehicle certification remained with the offices. But now, strict action would be taken against them.”
