Patiala: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has sounded an alert as Pakistan’s Inter-Services-Intelligence (ISI) is attempting to disturb peace in Punjab before the Assembly elections due in February-March next year.
Pak-based Sikh militants have been asked to activate their associates in India to carry out terrorist attacks in Punjab.
The IB has intimated the Union Home Ministry about the designs of the Pak agency.
The ISI has found the present state of political affairs in Punjab as conducive for creating trouble as a section of the Sikhs are perturbed over the cancellation of the proposed Sarbat Khalsa. On the instructions of the SAD-BJP government, police has arrested several radicals leading to calling off the event.
The government is being criticised for the suppression of the human rights of the radicals.
Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh has demanded deployment of Central para-military forces before the conduct of the state assembly elections.
On the other hand, the Punjab Police claims to fully prepared to meet any threat to the law and order of the state.
