Ludhiana: As the festival of Maha Shivratri and Holi is just around the corner, trains at the Ludhiana Railway Station could be seen flooded with passengers and they are not getting confirmed tickets to go to their destinations. As waiting list is touching near hundred in trains and there is no room for getting the confirmed reservation done, until or unless cancellations in the bulk takes place at the station.
Moreover the Ludhiana Railway reservation officials said that it’s not only the Shatabdi Express which is running packed to capacity but number of other trains also, which mainly includes Superfast, Puja Express, Malwa Express, Dadar Express, Janta Rath, 3LF, Sealdah Express and all other trains towards Bihar. The Station Superintendent, Ravinder Sharma said that in the month of March mainly near Holi trains remain jam packed and reservations waiting list runs around hundred.
Moreover soon final examinations of primary classes would be over and many other families have planned various vacations before new session starts, official added. The commuters went for advance booking well on time and now they have an easy access to board a train. Whereas travelers who are trying to have current booking for families now are having a tough time at Ludhiana Railway Center as many seats have already been reserved.
The weighting list at railway notice board speaks volumes about rush in the train including special trains, which are running since festival season in October at the Ludhiana Railway Station. The suspended trains in the February would also start soon as the rush would get double in the trains from the next week.
The Station Superintendent, Ludhiana, Ashok Salaria said that around Holi one does not get seats easily in trains mainly on the UP and Bihar route of the railways in city.
