Ludhiana: Filmamker from Mumbai, Opender Chanana visited one of the private colleges and interacted with the young minds. He also showed his latest documentary titled Living on the Edge- deglamourizing Bollywood to the students.
This documentary has highlighted the burning issue of inequality in film and small screen industry. It excellently showed the issue of security of service and wages, lack of proper working conditions etc.
While interacting with the students Opender said, “The spotlight and focus of the print media and now TV has always been on stars. It is widely believed that the entertainment and media industry is now one of the fastest growing sectors in India. The corporate giants have acquired the same status as those of Hollywood studios. We have tried to show in the documentary the reality of people behind the camera, what problems they face while shooting etc. This documentary aims to draw the attention of all concerned to the plight of thousands of workers and technicians working in cinema and TV industry.”
After the screening of movie, students especially of Journalism and Mass Communication cleared their queries. They were told about the ideas of shooting and the techniques to be taken in to consideration while shooting anything.
Swapan Chanana, Unit Head PCTE said, “We’ve organised this seminar in order to highlight the reality of film and TV industry which seems to be quite glamorous. Students were highly impressed as well as surprised to see the real world of entertainment industry.”
