Ludhiana: A gang comprising three males and two women allegedly extorted money from a middle aged man along with his paramour after making their lewd video.
The accused had demanded Rs.20 lakh from the victim and threatened to post the video on social networking if the amount will not be paid.
With a fear to get defamed, the victim paid Rs.14 lakh to the accused in two instalments and also later lodged the police complaint at Police Station Dehlon.
During the investigation, the police arrested four accused among two women and recovered cash worth Rs.7.40 lakh. The police have also recovered Hyundai Accent car price from the accused and when checked it was found that fake registration number was installed on the car.
The accused have been identified as Sarbjit Kaur of Tibba Pul, Gurjit Kaur of Amarpura of Sangrur, Malkit Singh of Malerkotla, Balwinder Singh of Village Sorgarh Cheeme of Sangrur and Mani of Dhuri. One accused Mani is still absconding.
According to the police, the complainant Sikandar Singh (55) of Sokal Khedi of Payal went to the farm house of Sarbjit Kaur on September 22 with her female friend.
In the meantime, Malkit Singh, Balwinder Singh and Mani struck there and overpowered the victim. Later, they removed the clothes of victim and his friend and recorded video.
After recording the video the accused demanded Rs.20 lakh and threatened to post the video on social networking.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP City-3) Rattan Singh Brar said that the accused have made woman hostage and asked Sikander Singh to bring money.
When Sikander Singh paid Rs.8 lakh the woman was released by the gang. After few days, the victim paid Rs. 6 lakh more to accused but they again demanded more money after which the victim lodged the police case.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 342, 354-C, 384, 389 and 120-B of IPC and section 67 of the IT Act.
