Ludhiana: The foundation stone of Punjab’s second Multi Product Mega Food Park coming up at village Ladhowal would be laid by Union Food Processing Industries Minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal on September 26.
This function would also be attended by Union Minister of State Sadhavi Niranjan Jyoti, Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab Agriculture Minister Tota Singh, senior officials and other prominent personalities.
According to ex-MP and Chairman, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Amrik Singh Aliwal, this Multi Product Mega Food Park would be spread on an area of 200 acres and would be developed with a cost of Rs.118 crore.
Aliwal said this Multi Product Mega Food Park would boost the economy of the state, and it would benefit a large number of farmers, industrialists and businessmen.
He said that the setting up of 30-35 processing units, here, would generate a large number of employment for the youth of Ludhiana as well as other adjoining districts of the state.
Multi Product Mega Food Park would have a capacity of processing 63,000 tonne fruits and vegetables annually and assured that with the processing of food products here, the prices of eatables would decrease considerably, which would ultimately help the consumers. He said that the Punjab government is trying to operationalise this food park soon.
