Patiala: The Ghanour Police claimed to have recovered one kg of opium in a special checking cum search operation and also arrested the accused involved in smuggling of the drug.
According to the police, the recovery was made when a police squad headed by the sub-inspector Balbir Singh was doing its duty at the T-Point near village Baghora and conducted checking. The accused was signalled to stop at naka for the checking as well. Consequently, he was held with one kg of opium and was identified as Subegh Singh, son of Hari Singh and resident of Amritsar. The Police added that following the recovery of the drug, the accused Subegh Singh was arrested by the police and a FIR No 88 under section’s 18/ 61/ 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against him at the Police Station Ghanour. The Police said that the accused will be produced before the magistrate to seek his remand. Investigations are on to inquire from where did he manged to get opium and who all people are involved in the smuggling gang.
