Ludhiana: Advocates protested strongly against the GLADA during strike on continuously second day on Wednesday on a call given by District Bar Association (DBA).
On the other side, GLADA failed to execute the auction of disputed land as nobody made bid. District Bar Association, Ludhiana has observed strike on August 23 and 24, as protest against GLADA (Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority) for holding public auction of disputed land, situated at rear side of court premises.
During protest on Wednesday, President Vijay B Verma said that advocates demanded the disputed land for parking purpose as there was no sufficient parking provisions in the present court premises and DBA has been already pursuing the case with state government for the said matter. Advocates shall intensify their agitation, if their demands will not fulfilled. During the protest, Vice President DBA Vipan Saggar, President Indian Lawyers Association Amit Rai, Jimmy Malhotra, Jamson Ghai, Vishal Rana, Tajinder Singh Panesar, Amrit Pal Singh, Chetan Verma, Sanjay Sharma, Gagandeep Singh, Harjot Singh Harikay, Surinder Pal, Sham Sunder Ahuja, Birender Singh Sekhon, Gaurav Arora etc. were participated actively.
According to Administrator, GLADA KP Brar, the auction of the land situated near Feroz Gandhi Market, cannot be executed as nobody came forward for bid during the auction time.
According to Vice President of DBA, Vipin Saggar, DBA has already filed civil suit for against GLADA and State of Punjab and the concerned court directed to all parties of the case to maintain status quo. Despite this, GLADA has fixed public auction of said disputed land on August 24, 2016, which failed totally due to the strongly protest of advocates as nobody came for bid.
