Ludhiana: The higher authorities have asked the Government Railway Police (GRP) to make lists of “wanted” criminals.
It may be stated here that when the department will get hi-tech by the end of December 2016 then that list of criminals would be updated in computers so that at one click the authorities should be able to get any information in case of any emergency or if any casualty occurs.
At present, to find matter from files takes a lot time as the concerned authorities have to see records.
Earlier, GRP computerisation has got delayed due to lack of rooms. Talking about the status of the project of doing GRP Police Stations computerised, SHO, Inderjit Singh said that they have got computers with them but this project was delayed as they do not have any rooms for keeping the computers to feed their data in.
“I have written a letter to higher authorities to get constructed for them and then they will install computers with technicians. They now assured me to start room’s construction soon and by the start of next month we will make them computerised as it’s the most important basic necessity now”, he added.
He said that soon a control room would also be made for Government Railway Police Ludhiana for which just a single digit number would be given to the people who can dial it with ease at the time of problem or any emergency. The funds for installing around more than one dozen CCTV cameras at different platforms of the station have also been sanctioned and its tenders have passed, so now soon it will be installed at the station in order to provide security to railway passengers at the Ludhiana railway station.
