Patiala: A day after the encounter with the petrol pump robbers and their nabbing, the Patiala police again faced another challenge on Sunday from the attackers as one of it’s Head Constables was roughed up and another Punjab Home Guard Jawan was abducted and taken towards Sangrur. However, the alert police foiled the plan of the attackers and not only rescued the abducted Punjab Home Guard Jawan, but also nabbed the four attackers and registered a case against them also.
According to the police, the problem arose when the Punjab Police’s head constable (HC) Ranjit Singh posted at Police division No 2 along with a Jawan of the Punjab Home Guard (PHG) Rachpal Singh were performing their routine duty near Sai Market, Nabha Gate Area and they noticed some people creating a nuisance at a liquor shop and when these cops asked the people involved not to create a scene and leave the place, all of a sudden the accused attacked the cops.
First, they roughed up Head Constable Ranjit Singh and then they abducted 48-year-old Punjab Home Guard Jawan Rachpal Singh. The police said that after forcibly dumping the Punjab Home Guard Jawan in their vehicle, they tried to flee from the scene but the alert Head Constable Ranjit Singh informed the police control room about the incident and within seconds the police force was put on maximum alert. The abductors were chased by the police and their vehicle was overtaken near the Civil Aerodrome near here and the abducted Jawan of Punjab Home Guard was rescued from their custody. Later, the police party also nabbed all the four occupants of the vehicle as well. The police have registered an FIR under Sections 364, 353 and 186 of the IPC against the arrested four accused, namely Navjot Singh, Avtar Singh, Jagmohan Singh and Navdeep Singh on the complaint of Head Constable Ranjit Singh at Kotwali Police Station here. The police stated that all the accused belonged to Mansa district and they were trying to take the abducted Punjab Home Guard Jawan to their area.
