Ludhiana: Help Organisation, an NGO, held a meeting and moved an application to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to add relevant non-bailable sections of Indian Penal Code in the FIR lodged against the teachers and principal of DAV Public School, for brutally thrashing Atharva Gupta.
Help Organisation President Gaganpreet Singh and SOI, Malwa Zone-3, President Meetpal Singh Dugri said that as per in their knowledge, the doctors of DMC Hospital have issued an injury report of the student Atharva Gupta and mentioned that the injuries caused to the child are dangerous to his life. So, it is very much necessary to add the relevant sections, which were not added at the time of lodging the FIR, as the injury report was pending at that time and police have promised that they will add the relevant sections later on.
Help Organisation also moved a separate application to the school management to take immediate action against the culprits. The FIR has been lodged under Section 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act, along with other sections and as per Section 82 of “The Juvenile Justice Care & Protection of Children Act” 2015, Any person employed in child care institution, who subject a child to corporal punishment with the aim of discipling a child can be convicted under this section and then he shall be dismissed from service and shall also be debarred from working directly with children thereafter. As per clause III of Section 82, if the management of the institution does not corporate with the enquiry or comply with the orders, then the incharge of the management shall also be liable for punishment.
Executive body of Help Organisation Vinod Chawla, Tejinderpal Singh Vason, Inderjit Singh Deol and others demanded immediate action against the culprit teachers.
