Ludhiana: An ‘Induction Meeting’ of Indira Gandhi National Open University, was held at IGNOU Special Study Centre, Moti Nagar, Ludhiana, on the eve of the commencement of the new session.
Pargat Singh, Senior Assistant, IGNOU Regional Centre, Khanna was the chief guest on this occasion. The other present on this occasion were Sukhdev Singh Gill, Councillor, MC, Ludhiana, K.K. Goyal, Rajinder Sharma, President, Association of the PSEB Affiliated Schools Punjab B.K. Sharma Manager, Everest Educational Society.
Pargat Singh gave detailed information about the policy and programmes of IGNOU. He said that every year there are more than 30 lakh students who are receiving education form IGNOU and its centers are not only in India but throughout the world.
Asha Sharma, Coordinator IGNOU Special Study Centre, threw light on various subjects taken by the new comers and advised them to study wholeheartedly to set new records in the sphere of education. She added that IGNOU provides the opportunity to non-Matric persons to be graduated in any stream by clearing the Bachelor Preparatory Programme. She further said that in addition to the courses already run by IGNOU at this Special Study Centre, M.A English, Hindi, Political Science and History, MBA have been introduced at IGNOU Special Study Centre, Moti Nagar, Ludhiana.
Rajinder Sharma said that while perusing the programmes and policies introduced by IGNOU fulfills the dreams of the Framers of the Constitution of India. He said that it is definitely a departure from the past where partial benefits were derived only by a part of Indians in the field of education. He thanked all guests, dignitaries and the media personnel.
