Ludhiana: Due to the delay in the submission of the estimation report by the team of Railway experts, the repair work on the Jagraon Bridge has delayed by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana (MCL).
As around a month ago, they took the measurement of the bridge to send the re-estimation of the repair of the bridge but till date, they have not submitted the final report of estimation to the MCL authorities.
Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozepur, Anuj Parkash said that team of engineers from New Delhi has to submit the report, but till date, they have not received any report from them. As soon as they will receive the report from the higher authorities in New Delhi then they would submit it to the higher authorities.
It is worth mentioning that on August 31, a team of MCL engineers under the aegis of Superintendent Engineer, Pawan Sharma and railway engineers carried out a joint inspection of Jagraon Bridge. They took the measurement of both the sides of bridge to make joint report after signing which map would be made for repair of the Jagroan
Rahul Verma, a local Traffic Expert said, “The work of the Jagraon Bridge is going at a slow pace as Railways is using old ways to send the re-estimation report in the digital world. In this way, its reconstruction would take a lot of time, which is not good for the city residents who daily have to move through the traffic jams in Ludhiana. In the festival season city is going to face the problem of traffic snarls in the city”.
Moreover, earlier due to the problem of funds this project were delayed but later watching the urgency of situation MCL agreed to bear the entire cost of re-construction of one side of Jagraon Bridge and got approved in the F&CC meeting. The amount of Rs.11.05 crore for bridge was passed by the MCL.
