Ludhiana: ‘Jawani Sambhal yatra’ of Congress party led by Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Charanjit Singh Channi reached here on Wednesday on its second day.
Congress MP, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Deputy CLP Bharat Bhushan Ashu, DCC (U) president Gurpreet Gogi, Youth Wing president Rajiv Raja and others also joined the yatra.
Addressing the gathering, Channi promised the youth of Punjab that the Congress party will start job oriented skill centres in every district of Punjab for the youth. “There is dearth of skilled centres which can give training to the youth who have just passed Matric or Higher Secondary. The Congress party will implement this for the youth after forming the government in 2017”, he said.
On the second day of the yatra, Channi also paid tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and said that the martyr is the role model for the youth of Punjab. The youth should follow the lifestyle of the martyr.
The yatra entered Ludhiana through Samrala, Sahnewal and passed through all the urban constituencies. The yatra got massive response in the Ludhiana city where large number of people from every walk of life came out and joined the yatra.
Addressing the media here, Channi targeted the Aam Aadmi Party saying it was suffering from utter confusion going by the contradictory statements of its leaders.
Coming down heavily on AAP, Channi referred to the leaders of this party speaking in different voices on the issue of joining hands with “Navjot Singh Sidhu & Company”. It was a clear sign of the ground slipping from under the feet of the party. He attacked its leadership for being insecure going by the fact that AAP lacked its organisational set up having only a state convener and it was only now that a person had been appointed general secretary. He said more than insecurity, party convener Arvind Kejriwal did not trust the Punjabis and it was for this reason that he had deployed “army” of outsiders as incharge of organisational affairs. It was only after revolt within its ranks that this “army” of outsiders had been withdrawn.
