Ludhiana: Punjabi tourists are increasing in Kerala from the past two-three years. Even Punjab natives living in other states are also exploring Kerala. One more thing has come out that Punjab residents are the only ones who try different type of foods in Kerala.
This was revealed by Nanda Kumar, Deputy Director, Kerala Tourism, while talking to ‘Daily Post’ here on Thursday. He revealed that had the figure of tourists from Punjab to Kerala could be increased if there was direct transport connectivity to Kerala.
Still, he hoped that they were hoping for more arrival of tourists from Punjab in Kerala. “We have a target of increasing about 20 lakh more tourists from Punjab to Kerala in next five years”, he said.
Nanda further told that tourists from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gujarat were also visiting Kerala.
To a question, he told that there was a dip in arrival of tourists in Kerala for the past two years due to the worldwide recession.
Replying to another question, he told that Kochi and Trivandrum cities were the main attraction for tourists from India and abroad. He further told that people also like to visit hill stations of Kerala and Munnar was the most visited city because of its good scenic beauty. In bid to showcase rich heritage and versatility of Kerala, the Kerala Tourism on Thursday has organised an event in city to showcase the key aspects of the state. On the occasion, cultural programme was also presented.
Deputy Director, Kerala Tourism also briefed the media persons about new initiatives being taken by Kerala Tourism for giving further boost the state’s tourism.
He told that marketing initiatives for current fiscal were aimed at promoting value-for- money, off-season packages, targeting key cities such as Gurgaon, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Raipur, Nagpur, Nashik, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
