Mohali:As the assembly elections ahead in coming one or two months in Punjab state, political scenario of Mohali constituency seems still dull in this politically active season. On one side ruling Shiromani Akali Dal’s candidate is still missing from the election scene, AAP’s candidate Himmat SherGill also moved to Majitha few days back. Opposition party Congress’s sitting MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu’s name announced by party. Lack of AAP and Akali candidate in Mohali seems beneficial for congress candidate.
In Mohali constituency Akali Dal’s don’t even have a proper representative till date. Although a army of so called limited area bound leaders, office bearers and Municipal councilors are there but no such face in Mohali who can represent party in whole constituency. Groupisam and leg pulling was the major problem in Mohali in SAD, which is still exists on peak. In last elections parachute candidate Balwant Singh Ramuwalia wasthe candidate from Mohali which losses the battle due to non coordination of Mohali unit of SAD.
This time also perceptions are there that party may land some outsider candidate through parachute in Mohali.
As far as the Congress party is concerned, Mohali have MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu from Congress party which one second time this seat in 2012. Congress Party has announced its list of candidates for 61 constituencies. Party’s Sitting MLA from Mohali Constituency Balbir Singh Sidhu once again successful in taking party’s ticket.
In last assembly elections of 2012 total 10 candidates contested the elections from Mohali constituency. He defeated SAD candidate Balwant Singh Ramuwaliya by a margin of 16,752 votes in 2012 assembly polls. Balbir Sidhu was confident for his ticket from Mohali, he already started his campaigning from last few months at the grass-roots level in villages and Mohali city.
AAP earlier announced himmat shergill name as party candidate from Mohali who faced the revoltes in constituency, gained maximum votes from Mohali area.
