Ludhiana: One of the employees of Power Corporation, Ludhiana, named Lakhwinder Singh has won two gold medals in national level tournament Sudama Cup which was kicked-off at Panjab University, Chandigarh few days ago. It is not only a proud moment for the staff members those working with Lakhwinder in Punjab State Power Corporation Limited but for the citizens of Ludhiana also.
He won gold medal in Singles 35+ age category, by defeating Rudra Kaushik . In doubles, 35+age category, Lakhwinder and his game partner Varun defeated Sameer Abasi and Javender Dhole.
While speaking to Daily Post he revealed that, I am continuously winning All India Electricity Board Badminton Championship by grabbing the first position from last three years. He had also won several district and state level badminton competitions organised in Punjab.
Moreover, he grabbed third position in Senior Master National Badminton Championship held at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. “I am passionate about the game badminton from quite young age as after playing the badminton, I get charged up to do my work more efficiently” added Lakhwinder.
Moreover, Singh said that he is working really hard to achieve something special for our country and state for past several years as it was difficult for me to do practice during working days.
He further stated that the Badminton Academy of Shastri Hall, Guru Nanak Stadium is also helping me to practice more for championships. Moreover, this academy always helps me financially when there is need”.
It was really a proud moment for me when three times World Badminton Champion Hariyanto Arbi from Indonesia awarded me with a prize of one month free training in Indonesia.
He also said that the Power Corporation Department helps me a lot as he they provide me proper time for practice and support finacially as well. My future plan is, I am preparing and practicing for Worlds’ Master Badminton Championship which is to be held in February 2017 in New Zealand and also I am focusing on World Badminton Championship to be held in India in April 2017.
