Ludhiana: Residents living in the vicinity of Lodhi Club are getting disturbed due to loud music played by DJs during late evening. Enquiries conducted by DailyPost Navneet Arora reveal that the most sufferers are the kids and the elderly people who find themselves greatly disturbed with the music waves and sound, especially during days of examinations and when they feel sick.
The things took an ugly turn when the recent party with high sound evoked the residents to lodge a complaint against the club. Residents are of view that the club should not flout the rules as per the norms and keep the timings in mind while organising such parties. As per the standards set by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest, the sound decibel in residential area is 55dB during day time and 45dB at night.
Under the Environment Protection Act, the minimum penalty for violation of any provision is an imprisonment for a term extending up to five years or a fine of about Rs 1 lakh or both. Jagmohan, General Secretary, Lodhi Club said, “We are already taking care of these things and we will also take care in future that the loud music should not disturb the nearby residents.” The music should be played according to the pollution control norms and even the DJ timings should also be according to the High Court orders. The matter of loud music should be taken in care, further if it happens.
