Ludhiana: Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) cancelled its auction for 29 types of properties on Wednesday after ministerial staff went on pen down strike against the government for not fulfilling their demand to release the allowances and others.
The authorities were expecting to generate revenue in crores of rupees by auctioning these properties including three school sites, shop cum flats, booths and residential plots.
Due to strike by the staff, the visitors were also forced to return back without getting their works done at LIT office. Instead listening to queries of the visitors, the clerical staff of LIT sat outside the office building.
The accounts officer at the LIT, Rippan Kakkar said that employees concerned have been demanding to release their pending installments of Dearness Allowance for long time. The employees are also demanding to increase increments, he said.
Meanwhile, a visitor, Sukhwant Singh claimed that he came to participate in the auction for residential plots adding that no prior information was given regarding cancellation of auction. He further said that authorities could give information through news papers regarding cancellation of auction. Superintending Engineer, Rakesh Garg said that the auction was cancelled due to pen down strike by the ministerial staff.
