Ludhiana: After erasing Jhuggis from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar before Diwali, Ludhiana Improvement Trust has not cleared the dump, which is creating problems for the passersby and area residents of city. As the dump in the area produces a foul smell and is inviting the mosquitoes. Moreover, any disease can outbreak in the area due to demolition of number of houses as most of the houses also made urinals and they were also broken. The waste of the urinals is also lying at the site, which needs to be cleared as soon as possible otherwise more epidemic situation would arise in the area.
The area residents rue that they don’t know why the authorities perform half the work in the area. They have done a very good work by removing encroachments but they should also remove the whole mayoral demolished and dump from the area of the city. “It has become difficult to cross the area due to foul smell which comes from the demolished area now”, rued Shashi Bhalla, area resident. All the other area residents are also of same view that area should be made neat and clean. They further said that they don’t know why authorities do half the work and leave incomplete.
It is pertinent to mention that around 700 police cops were deputed at spot since morning and around 4:00pm demolish drive started and all the houses were turned to dump. The police force deputed at Shaheed Bhagat Singh slum area also helped LIT officials in vacating jhuggis and to keep situation in control on October 25 and 26. The councillor of area Tanvir Singh Dhaliwal said that its his hard work and courage of LIT Chairman Dr. Subhash Verma that after around 30 years these demolitions were razed by the authorities.
LIT Chairman Dr. Subhash Verma when asked over it said that the work is in the progress and soon dump would be cleared soon in order to keep the people away from any kind of diseases.
