Ludhiana: Following the call of the party high command, the Ludhiana Congress on Saturday protested against the verdict of Supreme Court of India against Punjab on Satluj Yamuna Link canal. The protests were staged at different places by party leaders.
In Atam Nagar constituency, protest was staged by Kulwant Singh Sidhu. During the protest the Congress leaders burnt the effigies of prime minister Narendra Modi and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal.
The Congress leaders blamed the state government for not following the case in Supreme Court and as a result the Punjab has to face a jolt. Kulwant Sidhu said that they are ready to sacrifice anything but will not allow waters to go out from Punjab.
Another protest was staged in South constituency by Youth Congress president Rajiv Raja. They also burnt the effigies of Modi and other leaders.
Rajiv Raja said that the Congress MLAs have resigned from their posts and proved that Congress party is ready for any sacrifice but Shriomani Akali Dal, Aam Aadmi Party is playing politics on the sensitive issues. Rajiv Raja challenged Kejriwal to clear his stand on issue of SYL.
