Ludhiana: It would not be wrong to say that rap is in the air. People of all ages like to listen to the rap songs and these are ruling the trend these days. From rap stars Honey Singh to Badshah, rappers are creating their own lyrics that cause a stir but many a times its just the choice of words they use in their day to day lifestyle that elicit the craziest responses from the people. Anyone who has a dream, goals and aspirations knows that it can be hard to stay motivated and focused at times as because of cut throat competition around.
So, the youngsters of the city are budding as rappers and working hard on its tuning to make the public tap its feet on the beats. Today, rapping is in the veins of even little children and they often sing brilliantly without any single break. The recent track, “Wakhra Swag Ni”, is ruling the minds of the little kids. Jeewan Singh, a student and a budding rapper from the city says, ‘I started writing rap songs back in 2012, whenever I got leisure time I used to sing and record them in my mobile phone. By that time I didn’t had the professional recording equipments but even then I started uploading myself recorded rap songs on YouTube and as with the passage of time I started getting so many likes, comments and suggestions from my viewers.
After experiencing the applaudable responses I tried looking for other people who share similar interest levels in rapping to get started with the company ‘D-hustlerz’. Then finally we kick-started with venture of professional recordings of our songs.’ Singh further added, ‘For me rap is a poetry in which we can narrate a whole story in just 2 minutes. Nowadays, lot of people are still unaware of hip-hop culture , So I am trying my best to aware people about hip-hop culture so that they can promote and support rap.
Another city rapper, Manu Ramgarhia is in a view that to him, rap is a lot more than just music. He said, “For some people rap is all about money, cars and girls. But it is something that can change the society but all it needs is to settle the words in a meaningful way and form it in a Rap. Pen is mightier than sword and I know words are more powerful than any weapon so, I use my words as weapons because I know my words can change the world. I have that ability.” Sahil Punni another budding rapper said, “I started rapping in 2009 when Hip-Hop has evolved a lot in India. I see a lot of young artists working hard to prove themselves in the scene. I personally feel that Hip-Hop should be used to create awareness among people because if we promote positivity and unity through Hip-Hop, it can cater to the mass audience which is into Hip-Hop music these days and can transform the society as well. It is one of the major reasons that I chose to be a conscious rapper, being against violence, discrimination, and other societal ailments.”
