Ludhiana: Tension prevailed in Manit Nagar area near engine shed on Thursday evening after around four persons allegedly opened fired on a man identified as Johnny.
Eight rounds of firing took place and the victim sustained five bullet injuries and rushed to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition. The reason behind the attack is stated to be old rivalry with the accused. Johny was also facing several cases including gambling, assault and others.
From the preliminary investigation the name of gangster Gourav Kumar alias Gorru Bachaa figured in the case and police is further investigating the matter. According to information the victim Johny was present near engine shes when Gorru Bachaa accompanied by three- four persons turned there in a car and opened fire on victim. Eight round of firing took place and the victim sustained six bullet injuries.
The doctors at CMCH said that the condition of victim is critical and survival chances are also less. Meanwhile Police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh along with other officials reached CMCh and initiated further investigation. Talking to media at CMCH, Aulakh said that they have started investigation and will know the reason behind the attack. The various police teams were on the job to identify and nab the accused, he added.
SHO at Police station division number 5 Inspector Beant Juneja said that after recording the statement of victim case will be registered in this context. However the name of Gorru Bachaa figured in the case but he will be nominated after the statement of victim. The reason behind the attack is said to be old rivalry. It is pertinent to mention here that Gorru Bachaa us facing several cases including murder, loot, extortion and kidnapping. Two months ago he has murdered auto rickshaw driver and was absconding after that.
Apart from Ludhiana, Gorru Bachaa is wanted in other districts of Punjab.
