Ludhiana: The final leg of The Imperial Intercity Cup was played today at The Imperial Golf Estate, Ludhiana. Team Ludhiana won the cup by defeating team Chandigarh by 18 strokes.
Team Ludhiana went head to head, toe to toe today against Team Chandigarh with a score of 277 (11 under par) in the finals. The format was better ball of two against the opposing team. The total net team score of each group combined determined the winner.
The final was played on a Blue Tee / Black Tee (Championship Tee) configuration, which provides a true test for the combatants.
The Imperial Golf Estate course is a Jack Nicklaus design, thus, this user friendly course can become somewhat tricky depending on pin placements. “Nicklaus courses historically have very subtle breaks on the greens, which can make it more challenging as the player must know where to land the ball on the green, to provide a birdie opportunity, or at least an easy 2 putt for par”, said John Volz, Imperial Golf Estate – USPGA Head Golf professional.
This was the first club tournament held at The Imperial Golf Estate and this tournament will be conducted every year, John said. We are also looking forward to having more area club participation in similar events with fun and interesting formats.
Team Ludhiana was represented by Vishal Adya (Captain), KK Singla, Nitin Mittal, Bharat Pargal, Amarinder Singh, Sidharth Sharma, Rupinder Singh and RS Bajwa
Team Chandigarh was represented by Anokh Singh Kahlon (Captain), Vivek Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Kapil Goyal, Pardeep Gaba, Pankaj Garg, BB Kaushik and Varinder Sharma.
