Ludhiana: The major roads of the city will get face lift before Diwali and for this Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana, Ghanshyam Thori has issued directions to the contractors to start maintenance work of roads wherever it is required.
On Saturday, the MC Commissioner along with other officials visited all the major roads and issued the instructions to the concerned staff as well as contractors.
It was in the conditions finalised by MCL that contractors will be responsible for construction of these major roads for one year and they will also bear maintenance cost of these roads for three years. Now, the contractors have been told to start maintenance work. In the maintenance work they will have to paint the central verges, central grills, thermoplastic lines and also they will be installing cat eyes wherever these are missing.
Along with this, MC Commissioner has asked the XEN Horticulture to take care of plantation wherever the plants are dead these should be planted again. The Commissioner visited Hambran Road, Ferozepur Road, Ishmeet Road, Pakhowal Road, Dugri Road and Link Road. Apart from this, beautification work is going on at Jalandhar Byepass Chowk, Samrala Chowk and Sherpur Chowk.
Also to fulfill the pending demand of public replacement of broken iron grills on Bus Stand Road has also been started. The flower pots on bus stand flyover have also been repaired and painted in florescent green colour. The plantation will also take place shortly.
The MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, “We will ensure this facelift of main roads should come to end before Diwali so that city should wear clean look.”
The Commissioner was accompanied with additional commissioner Surabhi Malik, SE Pawan Sharma, all concerned XENs and other staff of the respective areas.
