Ludhiana: In yet another incident of heinous crime against minor, a man allegedly attempted to rape six-year-old girl in a labour colony. The sister of the victim raised an alarm following which the accused managed to escape from the spot.
The Shimlapuri police have initiated investigation in the case and have registered case against the accused.
According to information, the victim was going along with her 3-year-old sister in market and the accused who also lives in same area called the victim. The victim went inside the room of the accused and he allegedly raped her. The younger sister of the victim raised an alarm and the area residents gathered at spot.
The accused was caught by the area residents but before the police arrive the accused fled from the spot. The accused has been identified as Naseer-Ud-Din.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 511-B (for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code.
Investigating Officer in the case Sub-Inspector Jagtar Singh of Police Station Shimlapuri said that they have launched manhunt for the arrest of the accused.
