Ludhiana: A man was booked by Focal Point Police for holding illegal fish market in Sherpur area despite having a ban over this.
The accused has been identified as Ram Parsad of Sherpur. The police have registered the case under Section 278 (making atmosphere noxious to health) of the IPC in this regard.
The case has been registered following the statement of Gagandeep Singh, who is Secretary, Market Committee.
The complainant said that the accused on Saturday held a fish market in the area, which is violation of Section 8 of Punjab Agriculture Produce Markets Act 1961. Under the Act, no one can hold fish market in the area.
The police have arrested the accused. However, he was bailed out later on.
