Ludhiana: Local health officials are still requesting different city-based hospitals to send complete data related to Dengue and Chikungunya regularly through messages and emails. But, it is a matter of strange that many hospitals are not acceding to the requests of the health officials.
According to the officials of health department, many city hospitals have failed to send the data due to which proper count is not available.
So far, there have been 98 suspected dengue cases in Ludhiana district and one death, according to the officials of department.
Surprisingly, no private hospital has so far provided the files of these patients to the health department despite repeated reminders after which the department has now decided to ask Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Ravi Bhagat to take strict action against these medical institutions.
Dr Ramesh Kumar, District Epidemiologist of Ludhiana said that multiple reminders have already been given to these hospitals but to no use. “The department has now decided that private hospitals which are not complying by the orders of the health department would take seriously over this issue as strict action can be taken against them”, he revealed.
“The second suspected dengue death is still not confirmed by health department”, said an official of the health department, adding that they could not confirm the deaths till they received detailed reports from the private hospital concerned.
Till the conformation, it was not possible for them to confirm the deaths as “the deaths could have taken place due to some other reason”, added the official.
When contacted, Renu Chattwal, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana said, “Yes, many of the private hospitals are not cooperating by sending the proper data base of Dengue and Chikungunya cases despite the fact that we are regularly sending e-mails and reminders to them for the same.”
