Ludhiana: A long pending demand of residents of Sunder Nagar got fulfilled on Friday after the inauguration of new bridge on Buddha Nullah.
The residents have been demanding for this bridge as existing bridge had gone weak and moreover traffic remained choked on that bridge.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria inaugurated the bridge on Friday. The area councillor Sumit Malhotra, area residents and the party workers were also present.
Gohalwaria said it would be a great relief for commuters and area residents after the opening of new bridge. He added bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs.1.50 crores.
Meanwhile, Malhotra thanked the Mayor for inauguration of the bridge and said that it would benefit the residents of Sunder Nagar, Bajwa Nagar and other adjoining areas.
The area residents also thanked the Mayor for opening of this bridge as after laying its foundation stone in 2010 the construction was started in 2014 and even then it took almost two years to completion of the project. They hoped that now they would not get stuck in the traffic jam while crossing the bridge.
