Patiala: Tvernment Medical College as Medical Council of India team during its recent visit found around 27 discrepancies. The team found three major discrepancies and in case College authorities fail to solve the issues than the former will be affected adversely.
MCI sleuths conducted thorough inspection of the campus and services being offered.
It i worth mentioning that MBBS seats were extended from 100 to 200 by MCI by stating that college authorities need to improve infrastructure and facilities. Three member team inspected construction work which began after granting of additional seats. According to information, college was bound to complete all the works and recruitment well before beginning of academic session. However, team found that college authorities failed to fulfill the conditions and work is nowhere near completion.
Principal of Government Medical College, Dr BL Bhardwaj admitted that team of MCI found around 27 discrepancies concerning various issues, but everything was sorted out accordingly as the team left convinced.
Dr Bhardwaj added that MCI team has pointed out three major discrepancies. First among them is shortage of faculty in the college. Second major issue is shortage of nurses. College at the moment has a total of 57 nurses.Third major discrepancy found was related to connection of intercom in college as well as in hospital.
On the other hand college has introduced state- of- the- art library, Theatre cum New Auditorium, Four new Hostel’s for Boys and Girls have been constructed.
Dr Bhardwaj further added that one Skill development centre, newly designed Mortuary and 24 hour special laboratory equipped with fully automatic instruments is on the anvil.
