Ludhiana: The Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana has left other MCs behind even in terms of execution of the PIDB (Punjab Infrastructure Development Board) works and it was revealed in a meeting called by the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for reviewing the pace of development works going on under Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) on Tuesday.
In the meeting, Deputy CM had called Deputy Commissioners and MC Commissioners of the state and in this meeting it was noticed that Ludhiana MC is performing better than other MCs. The percentage of the development works going on in the Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala is 34.39 percent, 43.71 and 38.19 percent, respectively, but in Ludhiana it is 58.60 percent. The MCL has already floated the tenders for all the 744 works which were supposed to be done under this scheme and out of these 436 works are going on at the fast pace and 49 works are already complete.
The MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori told that PIDB works are being taken up on top priority and it is a matter of pride that Ludhiana is doing better than other MCs. Thori further told that he has directed executive engineers to start 100 percent work in next one month and complete all works by November.
It is pertinent to mention here that it is not for first time that Ludhiana has excelled from other MCs as it is only Ludhiana MC which could achieve place among top 20 smart cities in country. Also, only MCL officials could get approval for tenders under AMRUT Scheme. Similarly, graffiti work being done by MCL is being appreciated all over Punjab and MCs of Amritsar and Jalandhar were asked to replicate it in their cities as well.
