Ludhiana: With an aim to improve the quality of programmes related with astronomy the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) has started up gradation of the lone planetarium of the city. The department is upgrading its sound system and other technical features are also being added at the planetarium.
According to the officials new advanced gadgets like digital projector, better sound system and digital library for showing programmes related with astronomy would be installed and people would again visit the planetarium. The projector and sound system has already reached and a specialised team has also come from Kolkata for installation. Now, they will be making it functional after its installation and testing.
A total of Rs.49 lakh are likely to be spent on the entire up gradation program of the planetarium.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria said, “City residents used to complaint about the outdated system of planetarium so to meet their demand we switched to new advanced technique. It will prove beneficial for people especially students. Once its renovation will complete we will open it for public.”
Meanwhile, the Municipal Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori said that upgradation has started and it will take one week time to start new programs related with planets and outer space. He told that they will also purchase 25 virtual reality devices to show space related educational movies through VR technology.
