Ludhiana:Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) launched free wi-fi facility for the visitors at the Sarabha Nagar Market on Thursday.
This is the fourth location where free wi- fi service has been provided. This has been done with support of telecom company Connect Broadband.
The service was inaugurated by Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and Municipal Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori. Along with this, senior officials from the Connect Broadband also participated in the event.
In order to access the free wi-fi service, earlier users had to send SMS typing “Connect” to 9653444555 and after receiving username and password they could connect mobile or laptop with internet. But now company has changed the system as now there is no need to send SMS. Now, one has to just register tab on login page and he/she can access internet after generating the login and password.
After inauguration, Gohalwaria said that they were providing free wi-fi at those places where large number of people visits daily. He further told that very shortly wi-fi would be available at public places like Ghumar Mandi and ISBT.
Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori said that a private company Visionum had launched wi-fi service in this market earlier also but since it did not work now it has been given to Connect Broadband. He shared that now Connect has launched this free of cost so it would prove beneficial for public. The members of Sarabha Nagar market association were also present at the occasion and they showed happiness over this launch.
