Ludhiana: In order to check spread of dengue during monsoon, the Municipal Corporation officials have pulled up their socks and teams have been formed to conduct checking. Also government has issued instructions to the officials so that people could be prevented from dengue disease. The officials have been told to declare Friday as dry day where all the water containers in the offices should be cleaned.
The officials would conduct inspections in the problem areas and issue challans in case they would find any shortcoming. The health branch officials of the MC have been told strictly to get the announcement done before fogging so that people should keep their house doors and windows open for better results. The MC officials have also been told to coordinate with the district health department for regular checking and monitoring. The medical officer health, MC Vipul Malhotra informed that already fogging is going on in the areas according to the schedule but now they have received message from civil surgeon office that fogging should be done in the morning hours. He told that fogging has been intensified in the morning time.
The officials of health department informed that checking of coolers is already going on and they have also formed joint teams for inspection with the district health department. They claimed that they have sent 32 employees of MC to the health department for joint checking only. In the past one month the officials have already found larvae in 159 coolers and they have already issued challans to 90 people while rest of the challans would also be issued shortly. The Municipal Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori said, “Ahead of impending dengue season the government has decided to take preventive measures at war footing. In this regard instructions have been issued to concerned officials. They would check places where larvae of dengue mosquito can be found.” He told that they would try to prevent the dengue by regular fogging in the areas.
