Ludhiana: With an aim to encourage the residents welfare associations (RWAs) working in the residential colonies for the betterment of the areas now the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) would organise special workshops for active RWAs.
Also, through these workshops the civic officials would identify the most active RWAs and then those associations would be rated according their performance and results would also be widely publicised.
The members of RWAs would be appreciated for their efforts in developing the basic amenities in the localities and also they would be encouraged to continue the attempts they are doing to help residents. The MC officials would visit the RWAs randomly and they would check their working as to see what they have done for the maintaining hygiene in their areas.
According to the officials workshops would be organised in the localities of active RWAs and other welfare associations can also join them. It would continue till July 15 and during this programme officials would organise three major sessions.
Appeal To Public
While making an appeal to the public the additional commissioner, MC Surabhi Malik said, “I appeal to the public to come together in a united way to become a part of this movement. Swachh surroundings lead to healthier and more responsible lifestyles and the public has a much more important effect on changing social attitudes. We will support all RWAs in their ventures.”
“The GoI under this mission has started several programmes just to make public aware of keeping their surroundings clean and residents welfare associations are actually doing wonders in many localities therefore it would be a great exercise. I would appeal to all RWAs to become part of this exercise,” said Ghanshyam Thori, MCL Commissioner.
