Moga: An IAS officer Kuldeep Singh Vaid serving as deputy Commissioner (DC) Moga has filed has resigned from his services on Monday. He is likely to contest Assembly elections on Congress ticket from any reserved constituency of Ludhiana district.
The Moga deputy commissioner Kuldeep Singh Vaid has submitted his resignation to Punjab chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal.
Vaid confirmed that he has resigned and November 30 would be his last day of service. However Vaid didn’t commented on contesting elections on Congress ticket.
Highly credible sources said that Vaid is close to senior Congress leader Buta Singh who arranged the entry of Vaid in Congress party.1992 batch PCS officer, Vaid was promoted as IAS last year and posted as Deputy Commissioner Moga.
Earlier, he has served on various posts in Ludhiana administration and Municipal Corporations and GLADA.
Hails from Ludhiana, Vaid is also close to cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal.
Sources from congress party said that Vaid would be party candidate from any of the reserved constituencies of Ludhiana district. Most likely he will be contesting from Gill constituency and retired IAS Dr Amar Singh who is the top contender of Congress ticket from Gill will be shifted to Raikot. In case, Amar Singh will not agree to contest from Raikot, then Vaid will contest from Raikot.
However close aides of Vaid claimed that former DC will contest from Jagraon constituency but former minister Malkit Singh Dakha claimed that he has got green signal from party high command to contest from Jagraon.
