Mohali: To maintain law and order, peace and security in the city, Mohali police have received 28 brand new Maruti Ertiga MUVs’ and eight motor cycles.
Inspector General of Police, Patiala zonal -1 Paramraj Singh Umranangal IPS flagged off these vehicles in Mohali on Friday. The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ropar range Gursharan Singh Sandhu, IPS, SSP Mohali Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SP (headquarter) Jagjit Singh jalla, Senior Akali leader harsukhinder singh babbi badal and other district police officer were also present on this occasion.
Umranangal while taking with media persons said that as per directions by Punjab government and DGP Punjab to increase the police presence in urban area, we are providing new vehicles to look after security issues. Urban areas of district are now divided into 35 different beats. Four trained policemen will be deployed on every vehicle. Other then this to cover narrow streets eight motor cycles are provided. “These new PCR Vehicles will cover the entire city and street localities.” Umranangal said. These vehicles have been equipped with modern equipment along with first-aid kit and stretchers, so that in case of accident, seriously injured person can rushed to hospital as soon as possible. “By dialing 100 number or receiving wireless messages, these fast vehicles are capable to react for immediate action to arrive any type of emergency.” He added.
