Ludhiana: Police Division No.5 have arrested the accused who has stolen 70 two-wheelers from various parts of city. The accused sold some of the vehicles after preparing forge documents, while he dismantled most of the vehicles and sold it in parts to avoid attention of police.
The accused has been identified as Baljit Singh (48) of Guru Ram Das Nagar. He was apprehended on Saturday following a tip-off following which an FIR was registered against him under Sections 379, 411, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of the IPC.
The police produced the accused before the court on Sunday. The court remanded the accused to one day in police custody.
The accused was a motor mechanic.
The accused came into the trap of the police when police stopped the accused for checking and asked them for showing documents. The accused failed to do the same and the police took them into the custody.
Station House Office, Inspector Beant Juneja at Police Division No.5 said, “Police searched the shop of the accused at Tajpur Road where they found 50 scooters and 12 petrol tanks of vehicles and 25 RCs which are seems to be fake and two driving license. However, 55 keys of different vehicles were also found. The accused told that he used to steal vehicles from open parking lots including outside mini secretariat, vegetable market, Feroze Gandhi Market and Clock Tower area.”
