Fatehgarh Sahib: US Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemned the killing of second Sikh youth in USA since the Donald Trump won the election of US President. NAPA executive director Satnam Singh Chahal said that a second Sikh youth Mehman Singh from village Uchi Bassi village in Dasuya subdivision of Punjab was shot dead by three robbers in the US.
He had gone to the US two years ago. He was working in a store in Jackson (Michigan).Chahal said that It was closing time when three youths barged into the store and shot him in the back of the neck before fleeing. According to the police, Mehman was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
He said few days back, A 22-year-old Sikh Harmann Singh who was studying at the prestigious Harvard Law School, was allegedly abused and harassed at a store near the campus by a man who mistook him for a Muslim.
Harmann Singh, a first year law student at the university, said he was shopping in a store in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while speaking on the phone with his mother, when a man walked in and said to the clerk behind the counter, “Oh look, there’s a (expletive) Muslim.”
Similarly couples of week earlier a 17-year-old Indian-origin Sikh boy has been shot dead when he was returning home from work. The incident took place at his home in his garage on Kandinsky Way in the capitol city of California.
Sikh community is living under the shadow of fear and insecurity .
There is increase in number of hate crimes in US since the Donald Trump won the election of US President, claimed Chahal.
