Jalandhar: The academic and infrastructure survey in affiliated colleges of I K Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU) would be done shortly by national-level renowned agency.
This agency would do the work of survey and inquiry simultaneously and also work for uplifting the academic status of the colleges.
In addition, the university would also bind all the affiliated colleges for accreditation of National accreditation Board (NBA).
For uplifting the status of technical education, these decisions were taken during the 63rd Board of Governors Meeting (BOG) of IKG PTU on Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by Board Chairman and Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal. This meeting was organised for putting the data of 2016-17 academic session of admissions in colleges and campus before the board and getting it approved. IKGPTU Board also decided to overhaul the semester long industrial training module for undergraduate students.
Chairman Sarvesh Kaushal directed the university authorities for reviewing their affiliation criteria and said that the colleges who were not performing upto the mark, could be de-affiliated.
In a strong message towards those colleges who were taking education as a profit making activity and not pursuing the responsibility of creating an educated society, Kaushal directed to close part time courses, uplifting the criteria of admissions, inquiring of ghost faculty, putting a regular check on colleges, etc.
Vice Chancellor of the University Rakesh Verma presented the report of industrial tie-ups of the university for training, placement and independence of the students.
